چکیده
Section 6.4, Compliance with Permit Requirements describes studies that evaluated several aspects of how well compensatory mitigation projects met legal or permit requirements. These included whether projects were completed or installed according to plan, whether they attained the required wetland acreage, whether performance standards were achieved, whether the project was monitored or maintained, and whether the regulatory agencies tracked the project.

متن کاملCompliance with wetland mitigation standards in the upper peninsula of Michigan, USA.
The United States has lost about half its wetland acreage since European settlement, and the effectiveness of current wetland mitigation policies is often questioned. In most states, federal wetland laws are overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but Michigan administers these laws through the state's Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ). Our research provides insight into the effe...
متن کاملInvestigating surface fault Rupture Hazard Mitigation for shallow foundations by EPS wall using Numerical studies
Observing destroyed engineered structures and induced fatality due to faulting motivated engineers to consider possible solution for reducing damage to structures. Mitigations countermeasures should be applied when elusion is not possible. Finite element analyses verified through centrifuge model experiments is implemented in this study. Considering different fault dip Angel, critical position ...
متن کاملValuation of Ecosystem Services from Wetlands Mitigation in the United States
Section 404 of the U.S. Clean Water Act includes most wetlands in its jurisdiction and requires wetland mitigation to compensate for permitted wetland losses. These mitigation wetlands can provide ecosystem services similar to original wetlands if properly constructed. Improvement of wetland monitoring requirements coupled with economic assessment is critical for effective implementation of the...
متن کاملConversion of Wastewater Ponds for Wetland Mitigation
The Conceptual Wetland Mitigation Plan for Phase II expansion to the John J. Briscoe Reservoir (Briscoe Reservoir) near Monroe, Georgia uses innovative approaches to restoring palustrine wetland functions to existing lacustrine habitats. This paper presents strategies for the design of forested and scrub-shrub wetland habitats in former wastewater treatment ponds and wetland design approach and...
